Called To Create Podcast-Purposeful Fulfillment, Personal Development, Creative Entrepreneurship

Do you feel the pressure of time?

Towards the end of the year, I feel the pressure of time, and time
is one of those things that you have no control over, but the
feeling is still there and you want to control the time.

I find myself saying a lot is that I want time to slow down or stop for a few hours.

There are many people who teach time management and one of them when he was still living was Hyrum Smith and Steven Covey of Franklin Covey.  Unfortunately, those 2 wonderful men have passed on and are no longer here, but what they taught was so good.

And if you didn’t realize that time management is all about managing yourself in the amount of time you have when you’re doing something or managing yourself within every 24 hours
you have in a day.

Now with the holidays upon us, many people have already
started the shopping and the decorating and all of the things
that go along with the Holidays which adds more pressure.

Why do we do that to ourselves?  Why do we add on more than
we already have?

Enjoy the holidays’s the way it was intended ➡️ to be with family and friends and to be grateful and thankful for all that we have.

Buying More, More, More?

In episode #178, I talked about wanting more, more, more because you think that’s going to get you what you want, and if that’s really what you want?

I want to continue talking about this more, more, more thing that can and maybe is happening, because it’s not bad to want and
buy more for yourself, but what happens when it gets out of control.

You might not even realize that it’s happening until someone points it out, and it can be hard to look at it because no one
wants to see the things that aren’t working or aren’t healthy.

Take a good look at what you’ve been buying and see what’s behind all the buying, shopping, spending.  It’s also known as emotional shopping!

There’s that high that you get when you shop and it feels so
good and it numbs the pain or frustration or any other emotion that you’re struggling with.

Are you buying more than you need or have money for?  Are you buying more things that only make you happy for a day or a week?

I have my own story of constantly BUYING fabric and sewing supplies and sewing machines.

Think about what really matters because It’s time to live a more fulfilled life and there’s no time to waste.

I’ve come to know what really matters and what’s just a waste of time.  Time is one of those things that you can’t get back!

Are you wanting more, more, more because you think that’s
going to get you what you want.  Is that really what you want?
To be doing more?

Or are you just running from how you really feel about yourself?

It’s not bad to want more for yourself and your life, but what happens when it gets out of control and you aren’t reaching the ‘more’ you’ve been working so much and so hard for?

Take a good look at what you’ve been doing and see what’s
behind all the doing.

Are you doing more than you have energy for?

I share my story of constantly, volunteering and volunteering
even more because other people(parents) weren't volunteering.

When you come to know who you are at the very core of your being, and who God created you to be, then you will be unstoppable.

I know this because for about half of my adult life I have been on
a journey to find out who God created me to be and what he
wants me to do while I’m here on earth.

And now I don’t have a desire to want to do more and more to
the point of exhaustion.

I’ve come to know what really matters and what’s just a waste
of time.  Time is one of those things that you can’t get back!

Your past is in the past and you can’t change it even though you wish you could.

You were operating according to your feelings and needs at the time.

I want to use the example of driving, you have to look ahead and pay attention so that you can stay in your lane, but when you only look in the rearview mirror, you’re going to crash.

You have to be aware and be careful not to let the past suck the life out of you.

All the experiences you’ve ever had in the past are for your learning and to gain the knowledge and understanding you need about yourself and about life.

That’s how you learn and grow and become a better person.

Think about what you learned from those things in the past you wished you could change.

Did you learn how much emotional strength you had?

Did you learn what you like and what you don’t like?

Did you learn what you’re capable of in hard situations?

Did it help you to realize that you’ll never do ‘that’ again?

Did it help you to see your capacity to love and to learn how to
love yourself?

Ask yourself all those kinds of questions and look for any and all
of the positive things that came out of your past.

If you can’t get past your past mistakes, then it will be very
difficult to move forward and focus on the future and create
the kind of life you want to have now.

Your creative assignment: focus on the future

Welcome to the Called To Create Podcast where I talk about creating, being creative, personal development, business, and more.

You’ve heard that question before about taking a bird’s eye view.

What would you see?  Would you see yourself living a life that
you like or love?  Would you see yourself making a contribution
to the people or causes that are super important to you?

It’s important to take a step back and look at your life as often as can.  Schedule it in!

I take a look at my life all the time and then I like to talk about it
on this podcast.

The most effective teaching comes from experience.  If I didn’t
do or don’t do the things that I talk about and teach on then there’s a disconnect with those that are listening.  And you wouldn’t believe anything I say.

So, why is important to take a bird’s eye view?

Because it’s common to fall into the day-to-day routine and grind and whatever other words you want to use to describe your life.

It might even scare you when you take a look.

And that’s ok…that’s the beauty of life, you can change.  You can decide what you want your life to be like.

When I take a bird’s eye view of my life, a certain time of the day,
I see myself going back and forth from my office to the kitchen to look for chocolate or something to snack on when I’m frustrated with whatever I’m working on.

But in other parts of my life I would see that I’m doing ok or even pretty good, but definitely not perfect.

I know what areas I need to make changes to and where I need to change my thinking.

It is a lifelong journey to get where you want to go and be where you want to be, it doesn’t happen in a month or a year because if you have a spouse or children or family, you can’t force them to do what you want.

This is your creative assignment:

From your bird’s eye view, identify at least 1 thing that you see
and know needs to change.

Write it down!  Get out your fancy notebook and write down what you see and make a decision that you are going to do what you can and need to do to make that change.

Improve your bird’s eye view one step at a time.
