Called To Create Podcast-Purposeful Fulfillment, Personal Development, Creative Entrepreneurship

Open your treasure chest, what’s in there that is so precious.  What you have in your heart is important.

Prepare what you’re going to do when… could mean anything.

It’s all about preparation is key for you to know how to deal with something like moments of frustration, something you’re doing that’s not going the way it supposed to.

Or moments of frustration and lack of motivation.

You have to prepare ahead of time.  There’s that saying that: “if
ye are prepared, ye shall not fear”

Prepare for a few key things in your life at first if you haven’t done so yet.

An example of preparing would be to create a song list on your phone that’s going to help you get going and help you get motivated, especially if you have to do something and you’re lacking the motivation to do it.

Other things you could do if you have to give a presentation for your work or job and you’ve never done it before and you don’t
like doing that kind of stuff.

Another suggestion is to pray if you believe in prayer, meditation, play your song list, have a friend that you trust that you can call, text or FaceTime, watch a video(just be careful not to go down a rabbit hole of watching 10 videos).

When you prepare ahead of time, it will help alleviate a lot of
that fear, stress, and anxiety.

Receiving, for a lot of people, especially women is really hard.
You can’t receive if your plate is full.

So many women pile a lot of things on their plate and that
one plate is your capacity to be able to do all the things that
you have to do.

Women have a hard time saying no!

When your plate is piled so high, there’s no room for you to receive.

Have you ever said to someone that has given you something - “No, I don’t need that, I’m fine”?

It’s really bad to say to someone who is giving you something because life is about giving and receiving.

Check what’s on your plate because if your plate is full, you
can’t receive.

Giving and receiving is what makes the world go-'round and
it also makes you feel more fulfilled.

Receive today with a grateful heart.

I want to ask you what your thoughts are about failures and
how you think about them.  When was the last time that you
told yourself that you failed?

Failure only happens when you don’t put forth any effort or
you give up and quit.

Look at the whole picture and think about failures as an opportunity for growth.

Is there something that happened in your childhood that you
think you failed at and that you’re holding onto?

Once you let go of any baggage, it frees you up to create and explore new things.

Look at your failures as opportunities, because no one is perfect, and be open to trying new things.

We need people to live fully, we need you to live more fully.

You can create anything you want with the creativity you have
and all of the technology that exists that are available to you.

One of the things that you have to do is to focus on your big vision.  If you’re not used to thinking big or imagining what you want, then take the time today, just allow yourself to dream and image what you want.

You also have to surround yourself with supportive people who
are going to get excited with you.

Reach out to the people who are going to be supportive and
cheer you on like, your friends, cousins, etc.

Send a text message, send an email, call them on the phone,
post online about what you’re up to.  If you have a Facebook, and/or Instagram account, reach out to all those people and
ask if they can support you in what you’re doing.

By doing those things, you will create a ripple effect and that’s what you want.  People will share what you’re doing with their friends.

I’m sharing some examples of the quickest businesses to start where you don’t need money to get started.

Three things you can do:

1.  The first example is to teach something.  For example, if you know how to play the guitar or the Ukulele or any other musical instrument, you can teach that online.

Another example of teaching something is, if you speak another language you can teach that to people.

2.  This next example is to sell something online.  For example, you can sell things that you already have in your home on eBay or other sites like that.

You can also sell your craft or art that you have laying around.

3.  This last example is to have a service that you offer in-person.

In this video, I share all of these examples and the ways in which to work this business.

At the end of this video I share my secret sauce to success, so watch the video to the end.

The Objections People Have To Why They Can't Have Their
Own Business

There are 2 objections and reasons people have said to me
about why they can’t start or have their own business.

Do you want to know what they are?

They come in tied for the #1 reason because they say it in the same sentence and breath.

It’s that they don’t have enough time, and, they don’t have
enough money!

This is what I have to say about that from experience… you
can find 30 to 60 minutes in a day to start working on creating
a business.

If you don’t believe me, then please send me a DM, so that I
can show you where to find the time.

And, for the objection of not having enough money, I would like
to tell you that you do not need money to just start a small business at first.

Yes, you would need money if you are wanting to have a physical location, but to get started with something small you don’t need any money at first.

If you still don’t believe me, then please send me a DM and I can show you what you could do.

I have a Business Starter Kit if you know you’re ready to start a part-time business or start a full-time business.  This kit will
guide you through all the steps you need to take to get your
gift out into the world.

There are so many benefits to having your own business, whether it’s part time or full time.

If you’ve ever wondered if it’s worth having your own business,
I’m sharing some of the benefits and best reasons why you would want your own business.

These are some benefits:

1.  You get to decide what kind of business it’s going

to be - for example, online, in-person like consulting where you are meeting with people, have a physical location, also known as a brick and mortar.

2.  You get to decide how much you want to work:  full time or
part time.

3.  You can choose how to run your business:  if you want to run
it by yourself or hire someone to help you.

4.  You get to decide how much money you want to make.

Do you have one powerful question that you can ask yourself every morning when you wake up?

It’s important to have one question because when you wake
up in the morning, your thoughts and your mind just start going/racing and you wonder if it’s ever going to stop.

If you can come up with that one question, it will help stop
that bullet train.

One idea for a question you can ask yourself is:

“who do I want to become?” or “what else do I want to do
with the rest of my life?”

What else you want to do with the rest of your life?  What
about fulfilling a dream?

Find one that really speaks to your heart.

You don’t want to be at the end of your life having regrets.

Have that powerful question that will take you where you
want to go.

I like to talk about little children because I have Grandchildren
and they are so much fun to watch.

Think back to when you were a kid, you used your imagination, and you played and were curious.

What were you curious about?  What did you discover?

It’s amazing to be curious as an adult.

It could lead to learning something new or learning something
that can help you or help you become better.

I want you to find something new, go out today, and be curious.

With life being so busy, sometimes it doesn’t allow you to be curious, so keep curiosity in mind today.

Be curious about yourself.  Is there something that you were curious about but have never taken the time to find out about it?

Do this today, you never know where it could lead to.

Your commitment to yourself.  I talk about things that I work on and commitment is one of those things.

In the past, I’ve committed to only doing things that were easy.  But I’ve learned that I have to commit to doing things that are
hard because that’s where I can learn and grow.

If you can commit to what you want, it just makes life so much sweeter.

Commit to yourself to do the hard things so that it will become easier.

You’re going to get older and have another birthday so you might as well do something to fulfill your dreams in the meantime.

Commitment, it can become a beautiful thing!

You’ll find what you’re looking for!

If you look for the good in life and in the world, you’ll find it,
and on the other hand if you look for the bad, you’ll find that
too.

You have to have both-the good and the bad.

What have you been looking for in your life?  Take a minute
and think about it.

Have you been look for the good or the bad?

How has it affected it you?

There is more good in the world than there is the bad.

If you realize that you only look for the bad, I want to challenge
you to look for the good.

Take this time that what it is that you really want.

Everything here on earth is to benefit us, so lookfor the good.

What good can you do in this world?

Are you feeling fulfilled in your life?

Is there an area in your life where you feel like, hmmm, I’m not
so sure.

Do you ever find yourself saying things to yourself or out loud
like “I wish” or “I wish I could”?

Get out your notebook and write down what you think.

Write out questions like are you feeling fulfilled.

Write it out on paper what you’ve been saying, there’s a beautiful thing that happens when you do: it becomes real and it comes alive and you can feel it, see it, touch it.

Everyone has a treasure chest, it's my analogy about what’s in your heart.  Open it and see what’s in there.

It’s safe for me to say that you are probably not 100% fulfilled in your life because no one has a perfect life.

If you do find yourself saying “I Wish”, it’s a good indication that you’re not feeling satisfied or fulfilled.

Maybe one day you’ll be able to say “I Did” verses “I Wish”.

Think about your wishes, your hopes, your dreams, your desires.

You don’t want to get to the end of your life and still have that
wish that’s still in your heart.

Do this for yourself today!

I want to talk about confidence because you do scary things, and it stems from a conversation that I had yesterday with someone that I know who has two young children.

She has a 3-year-old daughter who does “scary” things(really it’s only scary to adults) like jumping off the couch or stairs, and has this confidence about her in the way she walks and how she carries herself, even though she’s only 3!

When we do scary things, that’s where the confidence comes from.

You don’t have to do scary things like doing a cart-wheel, riding a motorcycle, or jumping out of an airplane.

It’s just about doing things that you think are scary in your daily life.

When you actually do that scary thing, you’ll gain that confidence and feel so much better about yourself.

Confidence is on the other side of scary(or whatever you want to name it).

Do something scary today!

It matters what you believe about yourself.

Are the beliefs about yourself serving you or hurting you?

Just because you believe something about yourself doesn’t
make it true.

Question what you believe about yourself.  I can say for sure
that you have at least one belief abbots yourself that’s not true.

Take a step back and look at the whole perspective of your life, and see where your beliefs come from.

Are they true?  Do that for yourself today. Reimagine your life.

When you have a business of your own, it helps you create something - using your own gifts.

That’s exactly what I want to share with you in this video,
being inspired and creating.

When was the last time you were inspired?

Do you pay attention to that inspiration?

Make sure you write it down as soon as it comes to your
mind or your heart because there’s a great possibility that
the inspiration will leave your mind as soon as it arrived.

Take action right away on that inspiration: whether it’s to
call someone, text someone, or create something.

All inspiration comes from God and there’s something that happens when you take action right away - It’s like the magic
of what you’re doing comes alive and it’s so beautiful to see
it unfold.

Do this for yourself today.  You’ll reap the benefits when you take action on the inspiration you receive as soon as you receive it.

Do you have a daily practice?

Something that you do when you wake up every morning.

Sometimes life can become a daily grind where you

do the same thing day-in and day-out!  That’s what I went
through for a long time and for that reason I started a daily practice and have gotten out of that daily grind I was in.

My practice consists of:

Kneeling in prayer because that’s my belief.

While I’m praying, I think about my day, how can it be effective, who can I serve, and things like that.

Then I make my bed and so on.

Work on keeping up the same practice and being consistent because how you do the morning routine will determine how your day will go and will help you.

You do have a practice every day even though you don’t realize
it.

When you’re in that daily grind, it doesn’t leave room for you to think of creating something that will get you excited every day.
So develop a practice to do every morning and start by writing down what thoughts you’re having first thing in the morning and
it will help you realize what’s going on in your life.

We all want joy and happiness.  Do this for yourself today!

What would happen if you said yes to yourself?

It could be the greatest thing, it could be filled with
amazing things.

If you said yes, could you possibly open your treasure
chest you’ve had locked up for a long time?

Your treasure chest is like your hopes, your dreams, and
goals that you’ve always wanted to fulfill.

You have to say yes to yourself first and that has meaning.

If you say yes to taking care of your health because if
you’re sick all the time there’s no way you’ll be able to
even think about your hopes, dreams, and goals.

Start saying yes to yourself today.  Open your treasure
chest.

Have you ever said, “I Can’t”?

Are there new opportunities that you’re saying I can’t too?
It could be for things that are going to help you learn and
grow mentally, spiritually, emotionally.

When you say “I can’t”, what you’re really saying is “I won’t”
and it’s usually fear that’s showing up on your doorstep.  By
saying “I can’t”, you’re letting fear walk right in and take over.

Say “I Can!” and “I Will!”.

There are amazing things waiting for you when you do.

When we’re young you start to do things that you like and
don’t like, like chores.

When you have to do the same things over and over, you
get really good at it and that’s what creates ability and skill.

Then you’ll be able to say “yah, I can do that”.

If you have to do something hard or new and you start
to question your skills and abilities then fear and doubt
just take over and then, you start to think you’re not
capable anymore.

Then you don’t get that experience of what could happen
if you just use your abilities and experience new things.

Use your skills and abilities and don’t question them.

There are so many people that make lists like:

  • the To-Do list
  • the Honey-Do list
  • the Bucket list
  • the Grocery Shopping list
  • the Work/Job list

But what if you could create a list that has more meaning and it’s deeper and has a longer-lasting effect on you, like a list of your hopes, dreams, and the things you want to accomplish.

What about creating a legacy for you and your family?  Can you add that to this list?

Think about creating that kind of list that’s filled with amazing emotions like joy and happiness.

Open your treasure chest - the hopes and dreams you have in your heart.

In your trusty notebook, put down everything you want to Do, Be, and Create.

Now is a great time to use your gifts and start a creative business; whether it’s part-time or full-time.

There’s something so special when you create your own business and being able to share your gifts with people.

Are you using your gifts that you were given from God?

Don't let your gifts die!

If you don't ever use your gifts, they will die inside of you
and you'll

never know what that gift could have done for you, or how
it would have made you feel, or how it would have blessed
your life and the lives of other people.

Just like if a friend were to gave you a gift in a beautifully
wrapped box with a really pretty bow on it, and, you never
opened it to see what was inside!  What!

That's like saying to your friend that you don't care that she
took the time to get the gift and then wrap it, tie with a ribbon
and a bow.

Exercise is so important, especially as you get older and
if you spend a lot of time sitting at a desk working on your computer.

Exercise doesn't have to be something that takes up a lot
of time or is sweat-producing.  You can just do something
simple like go walking.

Don't put it off until you start feeling aches and pains.  I had
an accountability partner to go walking with for 10 years and
if that's what you need, then find one who's interested and is willing to help you along and exercise with you.

You have an amazing body that God has given you, so take
care of it.

Make sure to stretch every morning as soon as you get out of
bed because your muscles get tight from laying down all night while you're sleeping.

It’s so important to stick to what you stand for and have
integrity with yourself.

I have two things that are at the top of my list of the things
that is a hard rule that I won’t break.

The first one is - not swearing!  I didn’t grow up in a house
where anyone swore, and my mom modeled for me that it’s
not necessary to swear.

The 2nd thing that I stand for is not being nasty to people
or talking to people in a nasty way.

I was taught to treat people the way I want to be treated,
and that’s how I live my life.

How are you choosing to live your life?

Are you sticking to what you stand for and not crossing
your own line?

Comparison is a common problem that we do, and when I
say we do it, it’s because I have done it in my life and every
now and then I catch myself doing it.

Think about the example of comparing apples to oranges,
the only thing they have in common is that they’re fruit.

So, if you compare yourself to someone, the only thing you
have in common is that you’re a human being or you both
are women.

It’s impossible to compare yourself to someone else because
there are no two people alike, not even identical twins.

You have your own unique gifts, talents, and skills.

God created you to be you!  There’s no one else out there
that can be just like you.

It’s almost ridiculous that we compare ourselves to someone else.  Going on social media can take you on a downward spiral when you look at other people and see only the perfect pictures and videos, but you have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes and the messiness.

Make a decision today that you’re going to focus on your gifts and talents and how special you are.

Focus on what makes you happy and what you can create that gets you excited to wake up to every morning and do or work on.

Your life will never look the same.

Consider what is possible for you.  Have you ever thought about what’s possible for you?

Have you stop dreaming, stopped wondering, stopped imagining?

You are creative!

Lean into what’s possible for you at this moment.

Get out your notebook and use your imagination of what’s
possible and write it all out.

Remember when you were a kid and you used to use your imagination?  And if you don’t remember go and watch little
kids and watch them play, they use their imagination all the
time.

Your life will be amazing when you lean into your possibilities.

You have worth and value.  Everything that you do in your life and your business matters.

Your gifts are given to you by God and it’s meant to bless
your life and the lives of other people.

So, lean into it.  I know you can do this!

There are things that could possibly be causing you frustration and maybe even irritation in your life.

If we are honest with ourselves, there usually is something that we need to let go of.  (hint-hint...family members).

There's a lot of things that you can't control and especially when it comes to the people in your family.  I know because I've tried!

People have their own ideas and their own way of living and you have to allow them to live life their own way, as hard as it may be.

Do You Ask “What If?” Questions?

What if questions are very important for you to ask
yourself in your life and your business.

Seriously think about what if questions.

Start writing What if questions like:

What if my business were successful?

What if my life is/was successful?

Take the time every day to ask yourself these questions.

You never know where those questions could take you.

Let your mind go and let anything that comes to you mind
and let it flow.

Start making it a practice.  You don’t know what’s possible
if you don’t ask.

Ask, ask, and ask!

Be persistent like when you were a kid.

You might be able to see what you were interested in
at such a young age.

It could lead you to some really good ideas in your
business
and your life.

What are your thoughts?

What Are Your Thoughts About Selling What You Create?!

Are you struggling right now with your thoughts that’s
it’s not a good time to sell your products or the art
that you create?

You’re a 'creative' and you need to put your gifts out into
the world.

You need to start thinking that you are spreading joy and
love and happiness in this world.

Have that mindset that you’re selling your art to put food
on the table or to pay your bills.

Picture in your mind that you have your artwork in someone's home, image how you can uplift someone.

Your gifts are here for you and for others.

Move forward, take that hard step!

Don’t worry about what other people are saying,

you can’t control other people-just move on and continue to create.  Don’t let someone else’s negativity stop you.

Aloha friends!  I want to share with you the 5 simple steps to beginning your creative business because if you don’t know how then what tends to happen is you start having thoughts swirling around in your mind that can scare you and I want to help you get started without the scary! Halloween is over ladies, let’s get started.

Step 1 - Partner with God - because He can guide you and make your business better than you can ever imagine.

Step 2 - Decide what you want to do for your business and who you’re going to serve- what’s your gift that you’ve been given and that you want to share with people.

Step 3 - How much time - part-time or full time, how many hours you have and want to use for your business so that you know what to focus on in the amount of time you have.

Step 4 - Decide what you want to name your business and register your business name with the state you live in.  If you’re having a hard time deciding on a name, just use your first and last name for now.

Step 5 - Create your first piece of content and share it with as many people as you can, and if you have a product take pictures of it and share the pictures with as many people as you can too, for example, your family(if they’re supportive), friends, co-workers or former co-workers, on social media if you have social media accounts.

Aloha sisters! I want to share with you what it means to have a CREATIVE business.

IT’S WHATEVER YOU WANT IT TO BE!

I’m not trying to be funny, but you can create and have whatever kind of business you want and that’s the beauty of a creative business.

I can almost guarantee that you love to create beauty and there’s something so

magical about that and sometimes it’s hard to explain because it’s just what you do.

These are a short list of what it means:

  • it’s where you put your heart and soul
  • you use your God-given creative gifts and put something that you create out into the world
  • It’s something that you care about deeply and it comes from your heart and you create something that’s special to you
  • It expresses a part or all of who you are and your core values
  • It’s fulfilling where you wake up everyday feeling excited about your life and what you’re creating
  • you bring to life what exists in the spiritual and bring it into the physical world
  • where you are serving other people for free and in exchange for money
  • you can decide how many hours you want to work
  • you decide who you’re going to serve
  • what it’s going to look like
  • how much time you want to spend in and on your business.

Are you ready for a business coach?

If yes, send me an email at aloha@janinjohnston.com
and let’s get started!

Aloha sisters, I wanted to do a wrap up about what I've been talking about in episodes #71 to #74 which is mindset. And it's been an interesting journey learning about mindset. And I hope you found great value in what I'm talking about and the things
that I'm sharing.

Mindset is so important and it has to be talked about a lot more than it already is.

In episode #71, I talked about what is mindset and I tried to describe it in a different way. Not in a scientific or technical, but I tried to just describe it as like if I were having a conversation with you if you're sitting right here with me.

In episode #72, I titled it this specific title on purpose and the tile is “if you set your mind to it!”, like WHAT!  You have to understand what that means and you have to have somebody help you to understand what that means as well.

In episode #73, I talked about getting an upgrade, you know, do you want an upgrade to your mindset? I know I do.  And I shared about how you have to come from a place of love, and you have to be able to love and accept yourself. In order to upgrade your mindset,

In episode #74, I talked about what mindset are you gonna choose and that’s the question is “what mindset are you going to choose?”

Whatever that mindset is, I hope you choose to be open to possibilities.

You have free will to choose, also known as agency.

You do have a choice on what kind of mindset you want to
have.

Mindset is like a bucket full of all different things like your
beliefs and how you view yourself.

Your Mindset is not fixed.  In my 30 years of working with
women, the only thing that makes it seem like they have a
fixed mindset is because fear shows up and gets in the
way of them being open to possibilities.

Write down what kind of mindset you want.  Do you have a mindset that’s not serving you very well?  Do you want to upgrade?

With mindset, you have to choose what you want, so think
about it and decide today.

I’m here to help you use your God-given creative gifts that are waiting to be set free, and to have purposeful fulfillment!

I want to ask you ‘do you want an upgrade? An upgrade to your mindset’?!

In the last two episodes #71 & #72, I've been talking about mindset, because I find it fascinating what it's about.

If you haven't had a chance to listen to those two episodes, please go back and listen to them after this.

It's really interesting to learn about mindset because how you think will always create your reality and I've had a certain set of thought patterns of how I think of things in a certain way over and over.

All we do and say and how we live is all what we've learned from when we were a child growing up and all the different influences.  And now as an adult, you decide how you want to live. But how you grew up will always come into play, unless you make a conscious decision and that you become aware of what you're thinking and what you want.

Because of all those reasons I want to talk about upgrading your mindset.

The first thing I want to talk about in order to upgrade is that you have to come from a place of love.  I'm talking about the kind of love where you give yourself credit, you give yourself some grace, and you accept who you are.

Your mind is not set. So just remember that the only thing that is going to get in your way of having an upgrade to your mindset or growing as a human being is just the fear and the doubt, but it's mostly fear.

Take the time to upgrade your mindset and start doing that with love, even just thinking about love can help you feel better because the way you think, will determine how you feel as well. So, do this for yourself today.

Yesterday on episode #71, I talked about mindset like what in the world is mindset. I think it's kind of like, a topic that needs many discussions or many opportunities to learn about it. So I want to talk more about it today.

I titled this episode: If you set your mind to it. WHAT!  Because have you ever heard anybody say that to you “if you just set your mind to it.”?!

Okay, what does that mean? Have you ever thought like that like, okay, I don't know how to do that?  Can you just show me, or like explain.  But what I think it all comes back to is, your mindset is a whole bucket of things.

It's what you believe in, the thoughts that you have and how
you were raised, and more.

So you start to believe things about yourself and just because
you believe something doesn't make it true, question what you believe, and about your mindset and what you're thinking. If you have a positive mindset that you can learn new things and do things, even though it's hard, that'll help you to be able to learn and grow and change your mindset to being more positive and getting on that road to accomplishing things.

I’ve been hearing a lot of people talk a lot about mindset and
even though I was introduced to the term mindset, I still had
a hard time understanding what that really means.

And for that reason, I want to talk about mindset

all week, so that you and I can have a better understanding
of what mindset is and why it matters in our lives.

There are many different definitions from various sources
that I share in this video.

To me, it sounds like mind-set is only one way of

thinking and that there’s no other way.

My understanding of mindset is a set of ideas, beliefs,
and things about how you think and how you want to live
your life.

Come on this mindset journey with me this week.

In this episode, I talk about creativity because people seem to have their own definition of what creativity is or to create.

Creativity is everywhere, everything that you see in the world is a creation.

The word create means to bring into existence.

So when you're creating something, you're bringing something into existence that wasn't here physically, in front of you, and here on earth.

One of the synonyms for creativity is using your imagination.

It's also important to use your imagination as part of the creation process.

Get a notebook and every morning, write down what's going on in your head, what you're thinking, and all of your creative ideas.

Have you ever said to yourself "NO I can't" or "NO I don't
deserve it"?

What have you not allowed yourself to HAVE, BE, or DO?

You can have anything you want, be whoever you want to be and
you can do anything that you want to do. You have free will and
give yourself permission today.

Say YES to yourself.

In this episode, I wanted to share with you what I know about Creativity and why you need to use your creative gift.

Creativity is meant to be used to bless our lives as well as the lives of other people and I want you to use your gifts for that reason.

Just imagine sharing your art that you make and create, with someone and they love it!  How would that make you feel?

If you lack confidence in starting or running your creative business, let me know I want to help you with starting a creative business or if you have a creative business and want help.

In the meantime, if you're interested in learning more about my coaching program, me an email at aloha@janinjohnston.com so that I can share with you what I have.
